Windows Remote Installation Service (RIS) Drivers

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BELOW
Due to limitations in Microsoft's operating systems not supporting the Virtual Bus Device architecture of the NetXtreme II 1 Gigabit adapter under certain circumstances, separate drivers were created to address these limitations. The NetXtreme II monolithic "RIS" driver allows the adapter to behave similarly to standard network adapters and only provides network connectivity without the advanced offerings of the device. The monolithic driver should be used for connectivity during the text mode portion of a RIS installation (by placing in the I386 or AMD64 platform directory), in a Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE), and for the agent used for Microsoft's Automated Deployment Services (ADS).

Windows Management Applications

In addition to the Broadcom device drivers, the installer installs the management applications. The following are installed when running the installer:
  • Broadcom Device Drivers: Installs the Broadcom device drivers.
  • Control Suite: Broadcom Advanced Control Suite 4 (BACS 4).
  • BASP: Installs Broadcom Advanced Server Program.
  • SNMP: Installs the Simple Network Management Protocol subagent.
  • CIM Provider: Installs the Common Information Model provider.
  • iSCSI Crash Dump Driver: Installs the driver needed for the iSCSI Crash Dump utility. (NetXtreme II only)
More information about our management applications can be found on their overview page.
These installers will not upgrade existing installations of Broadcom Management and Driver Apps; therefore, the existing installer must be removed and doing so will lose any settings and customizations.
